We will enjoy a scenic drive through Dartmoor National Park, with it’s stunning autumn colours, and call into the visitor centre. Formerly a hotel, Arthur Conan Doyle was once a guest while writing The Hound Of The Baskervilles. After time for a coffee, we continue on to Castle Drogo, a 20th century castle designed and built by Sir Edward Lutyens. Situated high above the Teign gorge it has views of ancient woodlands and rugged Dartmoor, in all it’s autumn glory.
Sidmouth was described by Poet Laureate John Betjeman as ‘A town caught still in an endless charm’, after being captivated by it’s beautiful gardens, leisurely walks, clean beaches and Regency history. Enjoy your free day discovering what he meant, but don’t forget your afternoon tea and cake at the hotel.
We will also enjoy a scenic drive along the beautiful Jurassic Coast to Lyme Regis, where you can stroll along the famous ‘Cobb ’and enjoy the splendid views along the coast towards Charmouth. We will finish with a stop in the Donkey Sanctuary.
