Kent has always been known as ‘The Garden Of England’ so on this tour we will truly discover why, with gardens galore as well as a steam train ride.
Our first day is spent in the beautiful city of Canterbury, famed for it’s medieval buildings, quaint tea shops and magnificent cathedral. Having been a place of worship for 1400 years, it is now one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England. You will have plenty of time to explore before we return to the hotel with a stop in Deal enroute.
Walmer Castle and Gardens is our next destination. Here we can learn about it’s fascinating history and former residents including The Duke of Wellington,
before exploring the eight acre gardens, featuring herbaceous borders in full summer glory. This afternoon we travel along the coast to Samphire Hoe nature reserve, where we have a welcome talk followed by a guided walk to appreciate the wildlife, rare plants and stunning views.
Our final day out begins with a steam train ride on The Kent & East Sussex Railway from Tenterden to Bodiam. Enjoy a drink as we admire the scenery. This afternoon is spent at Great Dixter House & Gardens. Having been the home of gardener and writer Christopher Lloyd, the arts & craft style gardens are particularly impressive.
